Arsene said before the Transfer Window opened that Arsenal would be very active this summer. Some took this statement lightly, thinking, "Oh, plain old Arsene, he won't follow through." Well, I beg to differ. Although the summer is still young, Arsenal has been bathed in transfer rumors, and for that matter, serious rumors, whether it be players leaving the club or players coming in.
Carl Jenkinson - Arsenal's first summer signing. |
Arsenal has made one signing so far this summer though, in the form of Carl Jenkinson. The young 19 year old from Charlton is preferably a right back, but can also play as a center back or left back. Either way, I think Wenger will have Jenkinson as an understudy to Sagna, and there isn't really a better teacher is there?
Hopefully Jenkinson can really develop, and I'm sure we'll see a lot of him in the Carling and FA Cup next season. If not, it will be because he doesn't perform well enough this summer; he has been given a first team opportunity, let's hope he takes it.
Jenkinson is also an Arsenal fan, and he's English; a player that will (seemingly) give his all for the club, and leave everything out on the pitch. Similar to Jack Wilshere, in mentality? We can only pray.
Here's a video of Jenkinson's first Arsenal interview. He really seems to love Arsenal.
SAMIR NASRI
Speaking of loving Arsenal, apparently Nasri is still in talks with Arsenal regarding his contract. Nasri had said that his contract would be decided after the France - Poland match yesterday, which Nasri wasn't included in. After, Nasri said talks were still ongoing.
I think Nasri is just trying to drag this out to really get some money out of Arsenal. However, Arsenal has said they would not budge on their budget. No pun intended.
Sorry, I just love this picture. |
If Nasri leaves this summer, I'm fairly alright with that, as long as Cesc doesn't. We've got to keep one of them. There's no doubt Sami has talent, he showed us for five months that he does. But before he starts saying that he wants to leave the club because of a lack of trophies, he needs to check himself. Perhaps if he had his rich form throughout the entire campaign we wouldn't have been trophyless.
And I know, asking for a player to be on form like Nasri was throughout a whole season is a lot, but to be honest, he was one of our poorest performers in the latter stages of our season.
I love Nasri, but if he thinks he deserves a better club than Arsenal, he's wrong. And it's also somewhat rude of him to demand a higher wage after his form took a nose dive later in the season.
NICKLAS BENDTNER
This can come as no surprise to anyone. Due to lack of playing time and not being played in the right position, the Big Dane has said that he will leave Arsenal this summer, and you can't blame him. We can't really stop him from leaving now, it's too late. And I really think Arsenal has made a mistake by not giving him the chances he deserves; he's a brilliant player and a striker that can easily reach the 20+ goals per season mark if made a starter.
Early rumors, but so far I've heard Besiktas want him for 12 million. Not a bad offer, but I feel Bendtner will want to play his football for a slightly bigger club.
That's that for today. Tomorrow I'll be back with plenty more, regarding the likes of Gervinho, Samba, and Hazard.
Cheers.
arebe wenger must buy experience defenders n stop dis 19 ,18 playerz..we r not happy @ alllllllllllllllllll
ReplyDeleteWell it was only Arsene's first signing of the season, and Arsenal are in talks over Samba and Cahill, so Arsene is going for some experienced defenders.
